Wild West is the given name of an adware, one that counts on people being distracted so it can enter their computers. It has only two real goals, to show as much ads as possible and to track down your every move online.
Wild West’s ads can be shown in pop-ups, banners, fake ads on Google, or highlighted links on green or blue inserted directly among the visited websites text. It’s pretty easy to identify these ads because they are shown with the tag: Ads by Wild West or Powered by Wild West.
Wild West is mostly installed along with some other free software whose setup program has been modified by a download platform (download.com, soft32.com, softonic.com, etc… ). These download platforms do this changes to the setup program in order to win money by offering this “tools” that are “100% clean” according to them. This is how we end up infected by some adware. You can always avoid this kind of issue by paying full attention to every step of the install process so you can reject anything optional offered with the software you wanted in the first place.
If you go to Wild West so called “official” website, it’s not likely that you’ll get infected, it’s not possible to download it there, even though there is a download button. This website is online just to make public their terms and conditions, in this way Wild West remains withing legal restrictions.
