If you see a yellow “Enhanced Results” insert every time you do a Google search, it’s because your computer is infected by adware or a potentially unwanted program. This adware program, which modifies search results, is specifically designed for the monetary gain of its authors. It generates web traffic, collects sales leads for other dubious websites, and displays ads and sponsored links on your browser. Enhanced Results is not technically a virus, but some of its characteristics are extremely similar, especially the fact that it embeds itself deep into your computer’s operating system, modifies your browser’s settings and in general disrupts the user experience.
Enhanced Results was probably embedded in your computer when you installed a free program from a download portal such as Softonic or 01net, or if you clicked on a link on your browser to update Java or Flash (actually, they were fake updates in that instance, since the real ones always appear outside of your browser).
