Hard Case belongs to the family of PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs). If you’re being affected by it, is because you weren’t careful enough when installing a new software.
The main goal of Hard Case is to show as many ads as possible when you’re browsing the internet. It also checks on our every move while using our computers by spying and saving every website we visit and every search we make.
The ads created by Hard Case can be seen everywhere and all the time. They can be seen directly in the content of any given visited website through banners or underlined words, or they might chose to surprise you all the time with pop-ups or new tabs and windows opening whenever you click something, although sometimes you won’t be doing anything at all and will still see those ads opening up on their own accord.
Hard Case is usually installed at the same time as a free software found download web platforms specialized in free software (e.g. soft32, softonic, download.com etc…) These websites offer such free software with a modified setup program that will include optional software (of course they win money for each installation) saying they guarantee is “malware” free. As you can see, installing free software can often be the reason of PUP being installed too. To avoid this in the future be very careful each step of the way while installing anything new in your computer and make sure you reject anything you don’t want.
