2048 is a puzzle game where numbers appear so the player creates the number 2048. The game was created by 19-year-old Italian Gabriele Cirulli, who has shared his source code in Github.
The goal of this sliding block puzzle game is to slide numbered tiles on a grid to combine them to create a single tile with the number 2048. When you get two tiles in the same line or in the same column (without any empty space between them) you can merge them using the four arrow keys (up, down, right, left). The new tile will show the sum of the previous two numbers. The final goal is to get one tile with the number 2048. The game ends if all spaces are filled with tiles.
This game has turned into quite the phenomenon, using logic and thinking skills that appeal to the masses. Because the game code was shared as open source by its author, a lot of malicious people have been using it as base for malware. The official address to play the game is: http://gabrielecirulli.github.io/2048/
